Early career development boosts STEM success

Science Alliance helps young scientists attain professional success by stimulating learning and providing professional development in the early stages of their careers.

Launched by the New York Academy of Sciences with a consortium of universities, teaching hospitals, and independent research facilities, Science Alliance helps put together the career steppingstones for young scientists and paves the way for successful STEM careers.

Its mission—fostering lifelong professional skills through education, development, and training—is based on the need to align training with workforce demands. Science Alliance’s components include programs that help demystify the career planning process; field-specific training; and innovating thinking and communications—“soft” skills that are critical for professional success regardless of a career path.

More than 8,000 young STEM professionals in the Science Alliance gain professional scientific resources, career development, and entrepreneurship training.

The unique career resources provided by the New York Academy of Sciences include opportunities to network with distinguished researchers, physicians, professors, and engineers from around the world. Entrepreneurship training guides young scientists through the intricacies of funding and marketing that can turn research into a real-world product.

With more than 8,000 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows across the globe participating, Science Alliance offers an unparalleled opportunity for young scientists to take advantage of unique career resources, boosting their professional development in STEM.
